Sacristans are men and women who are trained in a special way to set up for all liturgies. The ministry of Sacristan is vital because it allows the proper time for the priest and/or deacon to spiritually prepare prior to the celebration of the Eucharist. High School Students and adults are invited to serve as Sacristans. Sacristans will be assigned to the mass they usually attend, when possible. Training takes place in both churches. Call the office to express an interest in this ministry
Music ministry – We have 2 choirs at St. Joseph the Worker. They perform at each church at different Masses. The choirs also sing for other special occasions throughout the year. Most choirs meet weekly, except in the summer. All are welcome, and though the ability to read music is a plus, the desire to praise the Lord through music is the only requirement! The choir is made up of ordinary parishioners who simply enjoy “praying twice”.
Art & Environment – The purpose of the Art and Environment is to enhance and beautify the whole space where God’s people gather to worship and pray. This ministry seeks to decorate the church for all liturgical celebrations and seasons.
Altar Linen Care – Those responsible for the care of the Altar linens rotate on a monthly basis to wash, press and fold the sacred linens utilized at the Lord’s Table. Each week, they are picked up, laundered appropriately, and returned before the next Saturday evening Mass.
